Unable to open into Photoshop from Bridge

Can't open into Photoshop from Bridge and Raw. Used work around: right click, open with PS... That enables me to edit in PS but then I can't "save as" a jpeg. I can "save a copy" as a jpeg but when I try to open it from Bridge it opens in Raw and again, can't save as a jpeg. ONLY way is to go into PS, use "open" and navigate to the folder I'm working in, find the jpeg I want and open. Screws up my entire workflow. I'm on a MacBook Pro and have updated Bridge and PS.

When you say, "find the jpeg I want and open", you are working with jpeg images not RAW?

...and from Bridge they are opening in Camera Raw not Photoshop?

If that is correct, from Bridge go to Edit>Camera Raw Preferences>File Handling and make sure that JPEG support is disabled.

Secondly, from Bridge go to Edit>Preferences>File Type Associations and check that JPEG files are set to open in the correct version of Photoshop you have installed. (I have experienced glitches with this and changing the association to something else and back again effected a fix.)

With the "Save As" issue, open Photoshop and go to Edit>Preferences>File Handling and check Enable legacy "Save As".

You should then have the ability to save as JPEG without having to save a copy.

(Note: I use Windows so I hope the paths I have quoted are correct but if not they will be something very similar.)

    Yes, at a certain point in my workflow, for certain purposes, I convert to jpeg and work only in jpeg.

    I don't have Edit>Camera Raw Preferences>File Handling. I have Edit>Develop Settings>Camera Raw Defaults but when I select it, nothing happens. I also have options in that submenu to Copy Settings or to Clear Settings, but I don't want to copy or clear when I can't see the settings I am copying or clearing.

    I also don't have Edit>Preferences>File Type Associations. Nothing in my Bridge Edit menu looks even remotely like that.

    I did find "file handling" under the PS Preferences menu and was able to select "Enable legacy save as." I will see if that does any good.

    Seems that the note I made in my original reply about the Mac system was highly relevant. I have no experience of Macs but I read this:

     

    To open the Preferences, on a Windows PC, go up to the Edit menu (in Bridge) and choose Preferences. On a Mac, go up to the Adobe Bridge menu and choose Preferences.

     
    Hope that gets you to the correct place.
