Question

Version 13.3

The latest update appears to have impacted production of HDR images. Instead of a week balanced image I get a very dark underexposed merge. As if it used the most underexposed bracket as a target.

Caution! I don't work with Lightroom or Photoshop, even though I have both of them on a subscription. I only use these applications for special purposes.
To optimize photos, I select the relevant images in the bridge and then open them in Camera Raw to edit them there directly.
When using the HDR function, each newly created dng is initially displayed in an optimized way (in the basic settings, the controls for the tonal value correction are not set to 0).
Further corrections, e.g. in the "Geometry" "upright" tab, can also be carried out.
When the dng image is closed, however, it is not saved in an optimized manner. All changes made after the merge process are lost.
When the dng picture is opened again, the basic setting sliders are all back to 0. "Upright" is also gone again.
The changes can then be corrected to some extent in a second processing step by "automatic" during the tonal value correction.
If you save it again, the "Upright" change will remain permanent
This happens with every HDR image from version 13.3

I`ve the same problems with merging HDR images. Further versions of ACR didn´t show that effect. After opening the created dng-image once again in ACR and using the "Automatic"- Button for tonal correction the impression of a nearly correct developed HDR-image appears. This corrected version of HDR-image can be stored and the done changes stay permanently.

Hi there,

Have you tried updating Camera Raw and see if it helps?

I have a cc cloud subscription and I keep everything up dated. Including camera raw. This is still a problem as of today. If I use mergr to HDR in Lightroom I get a reasonable result. If I use the option to merge to HDR in Photoshop (from Lightroom) then pick tone in ACR the result is a nearly black and I have to increase the exposure by at 7 or 8 stops. Try it yourself first before asking a question like that
