One problem is placing a inline images in a website. When I try putting in the image in programmers notepad and go to browser, I get a small x. How do you place a photo in a web page?

The path depends on where you keep images relative to the page(s) in which they should appear.

Generic example:

<img src="folder/image_name.jpg" alt="some description">

Online example (image from Lorempixel.com)

<img src="http://lorempixel.com/500/325/nature" alt="placeholder">

I create a folder and I put the images and the html code (that I create in programmers notepad) in that folder but I still get a small x in the left upper corner.

I seem to gravitate towards video training. There's just something about the speed that I need these days. Most come with example files you can download as well.

You could take your chances with the millions of videos on YouTube and there are actually some really good resources, but I prefer sites like http://www.lynda.com where the level of care taken for each tutorial is much higher. Many of the tutorials overlap in some form or another but there's nothing wrong with that. It does come with a very reasonable price considering the quality and especially quantity of courses available.

I like the ones at...

http://www.w3schools.com/html
http://www.w3schools.com/css

They're not DW specific (a good thing) and allow you to experiment with code without having to use an external program.
