When I preview my site in Google Chrome, my site looks as it should, but when I use Internet Explorer to preview it, it looks completely different.

    X-browser rendering problems are 98% code related.

    Use the W3C Validation Service to check your code.  Fix all reported errors.

    2% of the time, the problems you describe are caused by that unfortunate Compatibility Mode in IE.  It takes a perfectly fine web page and renders it in what I affectionately call weenie mode.  Turn off Compatibility Mode in IE to see if things improve.

    If that turns out to be your culprit, add this meta tag to your document's <head> tag.  It forces IE to open with the latest rendering engine available on the user's system -- hopefully IE9 or higher.

    <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=edge">

    Did you have a question or were you simply making a statement?

    I need help with the coding so my site is appearing correctly in both Chrome and Internet Explorer. Would it be possible for you to help me with this? I'm struggling with assignments for a class. Thanks!

    If you need help with your code it might be best to show the code you need help with. Otherwise no one will have any idea what the apparent issue may be.

    Firstly, all web developers hate Internet Explorer for this very reason.

    But you may have errors in your HTML/CSS, or you may be using something IE is not compatible with.

    Try checking your code with the W3C markup and see if if comes up with errors that, once solved, fixes the IE problem.

    If that doesn't do it, provide us with the url to your site and we can take a look.
