It’s likely a bit late but here’s a nice intro post from Amazon on Amazon S3 + Amazon CloudFront: A Match Made in the Cloud explaining how that works together and another one how to set up CloudFront for S3.

Why am I adding this now? I think Nancy OShea gave a good oversight into S3 but if you only use S3 and not add CloudFront, you may end up in very high cost once you reach only a tiny bit of traffic on your files. Also, S3 stores the files on one location (AWS location) so it might be slow to access files if you’re far away from it.

CloudFront acts as a CDN (Content Delivery Network) sharing the file into multiple edge locations near users all across the world. Nowadays, integrating CloudFront into S3 is quite easy and should always be done.

I personally think the biggest hurdle into this is setting all the keys up and integrating the workflow into your website.

Sorry for the late reply.  Adobe has nothing to do with Amazon Web Services.

When you say content delivery, are you asking how digital downloads work?

They work the same as on any other hosting platform.

    • You upload files to Amazon's servers, usually to S3 buckets.
    • Give users a link to the file.
    • User clicks on the link and receives the file downloaded to their browser.
    • If you desire greater security such as a link that expires after 48 hours or a session id that prevents other users from accessing the same file, you'll need to program that at your end.

    Hope that helps.
