Question

Anyone testing CFM pages with IE through Parallels?

I'm running CF 8.X on my MacBook Pro and I would like to test my pages in IE. The trouble is, when I fire up Parallels and launch WinXP (64 bit) I cant get IE to navigate to localhost:8500...

Is anyone else running this same set up and can help me make the connection through Parallels?

Your help is appreciated.

Don't know much about Macs or this Parallels product.  But it sounds like some flavor of Virtual Machine technology?

If so, then the windows machine running inside of the paralles tool is not the "localhost".  It is logically a seperate machine and needs to be networked with the 'machine' that is running ColdFusion.  Just the same as if these where two seperate, physical computers.

I don't know how one does this with Paralles, but I'm sure it is in the tool's documentation somehwere how one networks the VM instance with other systems either inside or outside the virtual machine tool.

    Ian,

I think you helped push me in the right direction. This is indeed a networking problem not a CF problem. I wasn't getting my head around the 'wheel inside of a wheel' concept. I'll query the Parallels forums to see what that renders.
