I have a very small CF customer base with about 5 websites.  Unfortunately we can't afford ColdFusion license and was wondering if anyone else has tried Railo or OpenBD for the server application?  Anyoen use for development or production?  Any feedback is greatly apprecited.

I am a HUGE ColdFusion fan for my personal sites and owuld love to get enough paying customers to afford full version for our server.

Do most or all CF8 tags work with Railo in your experience? I am just wondering if you found any limitations.

They list the tags that are not supported at this page:

There is lots of god info if you browse their site a bit or head over to the documentation wiki:

I have been using Railo for my personal website for at least a year without issues. It seems to be a very fast engine with minimal problems.I have tested several apps such as Mango blog and Mura on Railo and it seems to work well. Other products like cfwebstore also are reported to work on Railo. No experience with OpenBD but my experience with Railo has been positive.

Do you think it would work well on a small production server that serves about 10 websites?

Yes, I do. They have a mailing list on their website and support is pretty good from the list. You of course will need to test your code base at first and possibly make some minor tweaks but it is definitely worth looking at for what you are trying to do.
