application variable not defined random

hi, I am using multiple application.cfc in subdirectories. All have unique names and unique application variables. but randomly server is generating error logs in application.log about random application variables not found. There is no specific time or variable. Sometimes everything is working fine on the user end and suddenly it crashes and if we refresh the after a minute or two it works fine.
