Can't config MX7 multihoming for SunONE 6.1

ColdFusion MX 7.0.2 standard with SunONE Web Server 6.1 on RH Linux ES 3

I can't find the right documentation that explains how to multihome CF7 with SunONE Web Server 6.1 (no longer iPlanet - those instructions are outdated for this product!!) Docs found at http://livedocs.macromedia.com/coldfusion/7/htmldocs/wwhelp/wwhimpl/common/html/wwhelp.htm?context=ColdFusion_Documentation&file=00001757.htm do not work for me.

The CF7 admin gui works fine and the true web server home page will render cfm just fine.
When visiting a CF page on one of the virtual hosts, I see the source code rather than the rendered page.

What do I need to do to configure the multihoming?

Thanks!
Aaron

(gripe) One would think that the documentation for a compatible web server would actually work and not have to contact tech support for $$$ (/gripe)

Ok, after looking at the server config files, here is my solution. Macromedia can expect a bill for $499 for resolution of this incident. (jk)

ColdFusionMX 7 with SunONE System Web Server 6.1 on RH Linux ES 3

Assuming you have successfully created virtual hosts within the SunONE Admin GUI:

1) Confirm that CF pages render correctly on root server instance.
1a) Check the / webserver root/config/obj.conf for the following:

PathCheck fn=find-index index-names="index.html,index.cfm,index.jsp"
(this has been re-ordered and I removed home.html)

and:

ObjectType fn=type-by-exp exp=*.cfm type="jrun-internal/ext"
ObjectType fn=type-by-exp exp=*.cfml type="jrun-internal/ext"
ObjectType fn=type-by-exp exp=*.cfc type="jrun-internal/ext"
ObjectType fn=type-by-exp exp=*.cfr type="jrun-internal/ext"
ObjectType fn=type-by-exp exp=*.cfswf type="jrun-internal/ext"

and:

<Object name="j2ee">
Service fn="service-j2ee" method="*"
</Object>

Chances are, if you defined virtual hosts under the initial virtual server class (vsclass1), those hosts will also render CF pages just fine.

If you defined other virtual server classes, SunONE created a vsclass#.obj.conf file (or whatever you named the class) for those as well, based on a standard template. These new files do not have the items found in the obj.conf that allow CF pages to work. Either copy the obj.conf file over the new classname.obj.conf files or edit appropriately. All hosts created under the class will now have access to CF after webserver restart or dynamic config read (Admin GUI).

NOTE I have not tested cfforms, which according to the documentation in Config/Admin manual may require a symlink or full copy of the CFIDE folder in either the server-class root doc folder or each virtual host doc folder. I will reply again with my discoveries.

As always, make backups of working files prior to editing. These experiences are my own and not tested extensively. If you have further clarification or corrections, I welcome them! :)

(gripe) Thanks to Macromedia's inaccurate documentation, I had to work this one out for myself. I'm not lazy, just expect a company to stand behind their product, publicity, and publications -- without extra cost. The docs should be accurate enough to accomplish what they say they will. I refuse to pay for tech support on something that is supposedly in their documentation. (/gripe)
