can't log into coldfusion administrator using correct password comes back to login screen

coldfusion10 - just installed it. could get in before i loaded the updates

server is running fine otherwise

I had this same problem, but ONLY in Internet Explorer. If I logged on using Firefox or Chrome, there was no issue.

If you're using IE to log on to the CFAdmin, try FF or Chrome and see if that fixes it.
