Cannot get cf8 (or CF9) installed on OSX Leopard

I have recently upgraded from PowerBook to MacBook.  I wanted to get my old CF8 back up and running but have run into nothing but errors and extreme frustration.  I had CF8 standalone running perfectly on my old PowerBook and I would like to be able to do the same on my MacBook.  First, I just migrated my old stuff from Time Machine to the new machine.  All seemed to work fine until I fire up CF8 and I get message stating the server could not start.  After a little research I find that this appears to be due to new 64 bit Apache.  I can buy that, but there's a hitch.  64 bit CF8 won't work either.  I scour the web looking for answers and I find many.  Problem is not a single one of them is the same.  They are all different and not one of them worked for me. They are full of Linux commands which I don't understand since I'm not a  Linux pro.  I even take it to the Apple store and the Geniuses are stumped which has never happened to me before. I then decide to start from scratch.  Totally reinstall Leopard and attempt to get CF8 installed.  No dice.  I get stopped in mid cycle with a message telling me there is an unsupported Apache Binary. The old 64 bit thing is back again.  I find out how to switch Apache to 32 bit mode and am able to get through the installation.  Now CF Admin works but nothing else works.  What gives?!?  Why is it so hard to get CF8 up and running on Leopard?!?  This is exactly the opposite of what ColdFusion and for that matter Apple is supposed to be about.  Why aren't there a set of step by step instructions on the Adobe site explaining how to get CF8 installed?  To take things just a step further, I tried installing CF9.  I figured CF9 came out after Leopard so surely it will work.  No such luck.  I get the same message about unsupported Apached Binary.  What is going on here?!?!?

    Figured it out after 3 days of tinkering.  Turns out all the blog posts I found on the web about this issue seem to be pre CF 8.01.  CF 8.01 fixes most of the problem.  All I had to do was switch Apache to 32 bit to finish the install and poof everything now seems to work.  Need to figure out how to keep Apache running at 32 bit.  On reboot is seems to revert to 64 bit which causes things to not work anymore.  It's simple enough to switch back to 32 bit but it's a bit of a hassle to do it everytime. Let's hope connecting to MySQL goes much smoother.

    Sorry, didn't see this until your second post bumped it up.

    I had many, many similar issues when trying to get CF8 installed on a 64-bit linux machine - in the end it turned out to be Apache as you say.

    If it's any consolation, you shouldn't have any trouble with MySQL
