Question

Cannot update to latest ColdFusion update 8

First of all let me give you a screenshot of my home PC (running CF10 Developer on Windows 7 x64), as even this page looks different than CF servers we have at work where the update was applied with no issue.

I have tried clicking on DOWNLOAD and DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL and neither do anything.  Upon loading the page, I used Firebug and checked the console.  It has multiple entries of:

Uncaught ReferenceError: ColdFusion is not defined

(Truth be told I don't Firebug check the CF Admin page often, so I don't know if this is normal.  Many times Adobe's admin pages don't use standardized practices, but I just want to put this out there)

I'm familiar with how to manually install updates, but I cannot find a place where Adobe offers manual download of the CF10 Update 8.  Can anyone shed some light?

    Hi,

This seems to be a permissions issue or you may be behind a firewall/Proxy server. Please check the permissions on the CF install folder.

Here is the link to download CF 10 Update 8 http://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/coldfusion/hotfix_008.jar

Hey Anit, thanks for your response.

I'm not much of a networking guy (don't understand user rights and what not), but I checked the rights on my CF root folder and here are the users on it:  (I am on Win 7 Pro x64)

    AUTHENTICATED USERS (Modify and below)

    SYSTEM (Full Control)

    ADMINISTRATORS (LOCALMACHINE\ADMINISTRATORS) (Full Control)

USERS (LOCALMACHINE\USERS) (Read & Execute, List Folder Contents and Read)

We're not behind a proxy, but I am behind a firewall (and we currently have an issue with JUST ME where every 3 hours, the firewall forgets who I am and requires me to re-authenticate to get to the internet)  That is being worked on.

I will download and manually apply the Update 8.  Thank you very much for the link.

I manually installed the update and now ColdFusion Application Server Service cannot start.  I asks me to check the Event Viewer, which reports back the following:

The description for Event ID 259 from source ColdFusion 10 Application Server cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:
