cf 10 500.0 Internal Server Error

I can't believe Adobe has the nerve to charge what they charge for ColdFusion, but they can't even make it install correctly on IIS 7.

How do we get past the 500.0 Internal Server error in IIS 7 when trying to hit the CF Admin page after install?

Do you get a more detailed description of the error on the error page (usually below the HRESULT code)?

And ColdFusion installs just fine on IIS 7+ for most users, if they follow all of the installation instructions carefully (especially with regard to the IIS component prerequisites).  Most of the time (but not always) when people have posted here with errors following the installation, it turns out to be that they didn't follow all of the instructions.

For the kind of money they're charging, they should solve these issues - Apple does.

There are at least two likely culprits for this error - either the web connector did not install properly, or there is a permissions issue with the ColdFusion folder structure.

Did you install the mandatory updater and the latest hotfixes yet?  Can you remove and reinstall the web connector using the Web Server Configuration Tool (be sure to "Run as Administrator")?

When you installed ColdFusion, did you follow the installation instructions and the ColdFusion 10 Lockdown Guide?  The guide lists specific permissions that must be granted to the user account the ColdFusion service runs under.
