CF 2018 - CFHTTP issue with wildcard cert

We are in the process of upgrading from CF11 to CF2018. We are installing it with jdk 11.0.7.

When attempting to reach out to another server through cfhttp, it appears to be rejecting the wildcard cert supplied by the destination server.

I/O Exception: Certificate for <ourserver.test.local> doesn't match any of the subject alternative names: [*.test.local]

The same certs work fine with CF11, so I'm hoping there is some configuration in CF2018 that I have missed.

Let me add that we are also installing CF update 9 as well.
