CF 2018 upgrade to verson 12

We have the base version of CF 2018 (build  2018.0.0.310739) and need to apply the upgrades.  There are 12 of them.

Looking at the comments in some, they say : The updates below are cumulative and contain all updates from previous ones. If you are skipping updates, you can apply the latest update.

Does this mean I can cut it down to 3 updates (ie. updates 4, 8 and 12)?

Or should I always apply each upgrade in turn.

To make life interesting we have no test server and it is used 24x7 within out organisation, so I need to minimise down time.

    Hi Paul,

You can cut down all the updates and apply update 12 directly. Make sure to take the backup of ColdFusion folder before applying the update. Also apply the update from command prompt.

Few things to check before you apply the update.

    1. Go to \ColdFusion2018\{instance}\bin folder>open jvm.config and check the JAVA_HOME. Whereever it is pointing to, use that Java to install the update.

    1. Launch command prompt as admin and navigate to Java directory - java_home/bin folder

    2. Type the command "java -jar <hotfix_12xxxx.jar file location>" and follow the onscreen instructions.

This will require connector re-creation, so you need to re-create the connector using wsconfig utility. Instead of removing and re-creating it. Use UPGRADE and it will only replace the file which needs to be replaced.

Please let me know in case of any issue.

Thank you for this information.  As it's my first ColdFusion upgrade I will work through the steps over the next few weeks to understand what needs to be done.

At a first glance, since we are skipping update 4 I will need to do a manual install (which you reply seems to indicate), and since update 8 is also being skipped, I will first need to applythe update post update tasks.

    Thanks

    Paul
