CF 2021 Admin / Password

Somehow I managed to forget my CF21 admin password. I ran the passwordreset.bat. (selected option 1). I looked in neo-security.xml to verify the admin user name. Restarted the services and still can't get in. Restarted the server - still can't get in. I've done the entire procedure multiple times trying a couple of different password combos. Tried changing the admin username in neo-security and restarted everything. I'm out of ideas. What am I missing???

    Some ideas remain:

    • are you running the cmd line as admin when run the reset bat?
    • Have you tried modifying that xml file to disable use of any password? I don't have the specific xml ement to change, but if you search for past blog posts or technotes on solving this "Unable to login" problem, those discussed it
    • Perhaps you or someone changed the admin's allowed ip address list, and you may not be on it. There was a time when you'd see the login page but just not be able to login.
    • Look in the cf logs, when you try and fail. That may give more detail about what's amiss.

And as we've worked together before, of course we could likely solve this for you specifically in minutes. I offer the above for you and others to consider short of that.

Let us know how it goes.

    Charlie,

Run as administrator did the trick.

    Thanks!

Very good to hear. Curious that you'd been confirming the change of user had made it to the file. I can't fathom why that could change and not the pw, but it was worth a shot--and especially to pose first, as it's helped many. Glad it worked for you, too! 🙂
