Question

CF 8 Application Server doesn't start on boot

I've installed CF 8 and it's working great (so far).  However, I find that when I boot the computer up, I have to go into services and manually start the Application Server.  The other CF services start just fine.

Is this a known issue?  Is there a log somewhere I can review to see what the problem is?

Have you tried your OS log ? (I'm going to assume you're on Windows

and direct you to the Event Viewer console)

Duh - yes, it's Win XP Pro (Can't believe I forgot to mention that! )

I looked in the Application Event Viewer and found that it wasn't able to be started in 240 seconds, and there was a suggested command to enter to start it:  jrunsvc.exe -starttimeout <seconds> "ColdFUsion 8 Application Server" - although "-starttime" isn't a valid parameter for this executable!

So I tried with without starttime and <seconds> and it worked.

I went into the Services, right-clicked on ColdFusion 8 Application Server and verified that it was set to automatically start on boot, and then went into teh Recovery tab and set my First Failure to "Restart the Service" and the Second Failure to "Run a program".  I put the full path and the executalbe in the Program block and put "ColdFusion 8 Application Server" in the Command line parameters.

Unfortunately, I ran out of time and wasn't able to check the effectiveness of these modifications, but will do so tonight and report back.

    hi ,

I am having same problem though running on Vista SP1 rather than XP as you have indicated. Did you find a resolution that fixed the problem?

    Thanks, Carl.
