CF 9 Hangs at Configuration Wizard

So...

I have a clean install of CF 9 standard edition on Windows Server 2008, running IIS 7.  Installation goes fine - I select all the necessary II6 metabase/isapi features to ensure CF will work.

I get to the configuration wizard and it just hangs... I modified the adminconfig.xml file to not run the configuration wizard, but after my CF admin password, I just get the login page again... it's a vicious circle.

I have tried rebooting, uninstalling and reinstalling IIS and CF.  I have tried installation of CF as the trial edition  - I even wiped the box and did a fresh install of server 2008.  I have tried every possible trick I can find in these forums, and still nothing!

It's either a configuration wizard screen that never moves forward or a CF admin login page that keeps looping back to the login even after entering the right password..... HELP!

I've had the same thing happen a few times on different installs. I think I just stopped and restarted the ColdFusion and IIS Windows services. It's frustrating as hell.

Thanks - I have restarted both services several times, but no luck - it is incredibly frustrating!  I spent all day yesterday on this stupid box!!  A friend recommended the manual install that someone posted for installing CF 9 on Windows Server 2000 - I will give it a shot and see what happens.

Here's what I'm going to try:

    I'm still open to suggestions
