CF8 - CFINDEX Verity Collections - PDF 7 and Later not indexing

Using Cold Fusion 8: CFINDEX doesn't seem to index PDF version 7.0 and later documents.

Can anyone confirm 100% that CFINDEX will no longer index PDF version 7 documents into a Verity collection? We have tested this and it seems to be the case.

There is no mention by Abobe that CFINDEX and VERITY has been deprecated and PDF indexing is no longer possible or limited to version 6 and prior versions. Can anyone advise if Adobe has indeed deprecated the tag and abandoned Verity Search Collections

It has been suggested that Solr may be the solution which would mean an upgrade to CF 9 that includes Solr or installing Solr on a separate server from the server that CF 8 is installed on.

Does anyone know for sure if Solr on a separate server or CF 9 with Solr will indeed index PDF 7.0 and later version documents?

With a large investment in CFINDEX script development and CFSEARCH for document management and search, it is important to know this before upgrading to CF9 just to get search working again. Is it possible that this is just a BUG with "PDF 7 and later" documents or is it a fundamental technical change with PDF creation 7 and later that now renders CFINDEX and Verity useless for the future?

This is just a community forum.  If you want 100% clarification, you'll need to talk to Adobe.

I don't know why you can't just try this yourself (as I suggested in the other thread on this topic you raised).

However if you attach a coupla PDF files here, I'll grab 'em and index 'em with Solr and see how searchable they are.

    Adam,

No work can be performed by our development group without a complete analysis, project scope, project plan and project budget is developed. I wish I could simple pull CF9 into the shop or the Solr download but that is not possible unless all the technical aspects are provide ahead of time and submitted for approval in the form of a project plan.

Thank you for offering to test Solr for me, it is appreciated.

Attached is a form we use provided by the IRS. When running CFINDEX and then CFSEARCH the document does not appear on the search results.

    Thanks for your help.

I presume you have a computer at home?  Why don't use use that? That's what I'm doing, to test your code!

Or do you stop being a developer at 5pm?
