Question

CF8 requires re-install after every reboot?

Ok guys, try to help me here please.  I've been installing and running CF servers since CF3, and have never really had any problems like this.

Installing CF8 was a breeze, and everything works great.

However, after a reboot - for maintenance, updates, etc, it comes up hung.  Services start just fine, everything looks great.  But you request a page, and it just sits there.

The only way to bring it back to life that I've found is to uninstall and re-install CF8 - that fixes whatever it is that breaks during a reboot.

Any idea where to begin to look?  Logs show nothing.

I am supposing, by CF8, you mean Upgrade 1 of CF8. If not, upgrade to CF801. Then install the current hotfixes for CF801.

The first step to get this figured out is to make sure you have the builtin webserver installed. Then the next time this happens, try accessing the bultin webserver. If that works but IIS doesn't, check the webserver connector log file underneath the runtime folder of your ColdFusion installation.

OS? JRun or IIS?  Anything else running on the server of significance?

    OS: win2k, IIS

    It's just a webserver.

I have found a shortcut to get the server back running, and that is to load the CF website configuration tool, remove all the sites, then re-add them.
