Question

CF8 & Windows Server 2008

I was reading the FAQ about the 8.01 updater for MS Windows and had the following questions in regards to running CF8 on Windows Server 2008:

1. The FAQ says that "Coldfusion cannot access MS Access databases on a 64 bit system". Does this mean quite simply that you will not be able to run any CF pages that use datasources that are set up in the CF admin to use the MS Access driver ?

2. The FAQ also says that "Coldfusion COM Interoperability is not supported". Again, I am assuming that you will not be able to use COM objects in your CF applications such as accessing them via cfobject. Is that correct ?

3. How do you get CF 8 to just run as a 32 bit application instead of 64 bits if you wish to install it on MS Windows Server 2008 ? Do you just use the 8.0 installer and not the 8.01 installer when you install CF 8 ?

4. On a different note, is it possible to run CF 6.1 on MS Windows Server 2008 ? Are there any issues with doing so ?

I would appreciate it if someone could answer those questions.

Thank you.

    1. You will not be able to setup any datasources.

    2. Yes.

    3. Use the 8.01 Windows download instead of the 8.01 Windows 64-bit
    download.

    4. Sorry don't know the answer to that one.
