CFMenu Underlines

Has anyone found a workaround or fix for the CFMenu "underlines" created when you use the "Selecteditemcolor" option? I've seen on other threads fixes if you don't use this option, but it seems like CFMenu is really not useful from a design standpoint if this can't be addressed.
