CFREE, CFGRID Not Working After CF9 Install

Just installed CF9 64bit, and CF9.0.1 update on a Windows Server 2008 R2 box, using IIS web server.  Everything works fine, however when I try to run .CFM files that contain <CFTREE> or <CFGRID> tags, I get a Java error "OBJECT NOT FOUND" in IE 8.  And nothing is displayed in the CFTREE or CFGRID sections.  I've verified the Java x32 and x64 are installed and working correctly, by testing on the Java web site.

Firefox reports the problem this way:

load: class coldfusion.applets.CFTreeApplet.class not found.

java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: coldfusion.applets.CFTreeApplet.class

I've done a dozen CF 5, 7 and 9 installs on various OS, and never had this problem.  However, was first time I installed CF on a Win Server 2008 R2 server.

Does anyone know what may be causing this, and hopefully a quick resolution?  Without having to un-install and re-install CF.  If the Java is installed and working fine, could this be the result of a bad install?

Would appreciate any thoughts, suggestions on how to resolve this issue.  BTW, if the only way to fix is un-install/re-install, can you just remove via Add/Remove Programs, and then re-install?  Or are additional registry hacks and other processes required to remove CF?  Not sure how "clean" the uninstall needs to be, since I've been fortunate enough to have have to do an uninstall-reinstall.  Many thanks for any help/advice.

Problem solved.  Once again, thanks to Google, the only answer anyone with a similar problem could provide, was to do an uninstall and re-install.  So I tried that, and it worked.  Now the .CFM files that use CFFREE, CFGRID and othe Java-related code, run normally.

However, I've only installed CF 9.0, and not the 9.0.1 patch.  Reminder, this was on Windows Server 2008 R2 with IIS 7.5.

In case anyone cares, when I did the uninstall, I didn't do anything fancy, no registry hacks.  Just ran the uninstall program from Add/Remove Programs, and deleted the root C:\ColdFusion9 folder and all it's contents (the uninstall program left about 180mb of files in there), then re-booted.  Then re-installed 9.0.

I'm almost afraid to install the 9.0.1 patch on Windows Server 2008 R2, since everything is working OK.  Because in the prior installation, I ran the 9.0.1 patch right after 9.0, and never tested the CFTREE/CFGRID tags until 9.0.1.  So I still don't know, with 100% certainty, if it was a bad install, or something to do with 9.0.1, that caused the problem (assume it was a bad install).

If I decide to apply the patch, I'll test and post results here.  I'm sure I will at some point, if for nothing else but curiousity, and preference to have the latest updates installed.  If anyone has any thoughts about whether the patch on this OS might cause the problem to reappear, please let us know.  Thanks.
