Question

Coldfusion 8 and Crystal Reports

I may be looking at everything wrongly, but I am puzzled how to get Crystal Reports files to display on ColdFusion 8.
What actually do I need? I have a number of developer servers - but I am unsure how to configure them to work with Crystal Reports 8. I can create the reports in crystal reports versions 7,9,XI (including R2).

Would an internet hosting provider support crystal Reports? Can I only use it on an intranet?

A copy of Crystal Reports Server must exist on the server so that the reports can be called with .asp code\vbscript.

See the CFML reference on cfreport and the Developer's Guide on Crystal Reports.

    Hi,

I understand that. But what I don't understand is exactly what files are required on the server to allow ColdFusion 8 to see that it can run Crystal Reports. Do I need to install Crystal Reports Server, or just a copy of Crystal Reports standard/pro/developer version? Various people have mentioned seeing a process "CFCrystal.exe" running - that is definitely not running on our server.
Sorry, very confused but need to create some sort of reporting solution for our intranet. The ReportBuilder with Coldfusion seems to leave a lot to be desired and I have used Crystal Reports over many years - but as part of applications.
