Coldfusion 9.0.1 64 bit installation for multiserver configuration

Hi,

I am trying to install Coldfusion 9.0.1 64 bit in one of my server(Windows server 2008 SP2 64 bit machine), but Enterprise Multiserver configuration is disabled. And it is saying that JRun4 is detected and asking us to uninstall.

I had uninstalled previous version of Coldfusion and removed all directories of JRun4 in server. But still same issue.

But if we try to install 32 bit version of Coldfusion 9.0.0 then enterprise multiserver configuration is showing. Please suggest what can we do here?

Thanks,

Ravichandra

    Hi Ravi,

If the server has a prior installation of "Multi server" mode of CF {8 or any other older version than the current installation}, which has not been removed completely, installing the new verion, multi-server mode would be Greyed out.

Did you un-install the previous version through Contro panel or running the un-install exe, included in the CF install directory?

it is always suggested to execute the un-install exe included inside the CF installation, so that it removes all the components. Doing it through control panel, might not remove the registries linked to the specific software installed.

In this scenario it seems that, the registry for older CF version might not have been removed and thus resulting in this behavior. Can you please try to run the Windows registry clean up utility, re-start the OS and then observe the behavior? Also, once you open the control panel, make sure that: you don';t have any component related to previous un-installed CF version. {like: Adobe Coldfusion Jrun4....} If so, remove that too.

    HTH.
