ColdFusion Vwersion Differences

Can someone please explain the differences in the versions of CF? I have the free developer edition. What can I not do with this version? Why do people buy the other versions? Does it have to do with whether you will host the site or pay a hosting company for it?
Thanks

CF Developer version is free and is for developing cf applications. it
can't be used for hosting websites. it has a limit of 3 IP addresses to
connect to cf server, one of which is the actual server IP, plus 2 more
which are picked on priority basis - you can't effectively control which
IP to let to connect to your cf dev server. it also has other
limitations, i.e. it puts a watermark on any pdf created with cfdocument
tag.

the other 2 main versions - Standard & Enterprise - are for hosting and
running full applications. if you are not planning to host your own cf
server - i.e. if you are going to buy cf hosting from a hosting company
- then you do not need to buy them.

the main development environments for CF development are Eclipse with
CFEclipse, DreamWeaver, and, outdated and not supported, but still very
usefull, Homesite+ and CF Studio (?). You can develop cf applications in
Notepad, but the above IDEs have useful features like code hints, code
colouring, syntax checking etc etc etc. Eclipse+CFEclipse is free,
others are not.

I first bought ColdFusion in the late 90's when it was an Allire procuct.

We ( or I ) buy the newer versions to inprove productivity.

Did it occur to you that perhaps the Adobe website might have something
about this?

http://www.adobe.com/products/coldfusion/editions/

I found this by clicking the "ColdFusion" link on the homepage, and then
the "Product Editions" link in the right-hand nav of the main CF page.

It's not exactly "hiding" ;-)
