Comparing CF7 and CF8 standard

I have Coldfusion 7.02MX Standard edition on my server installed and saw the new Coldfusion 8 server. But when I looked into the new comparison schemes I figured that they had changed something to the licensing model (standard vs enterprise). I am not sure if it's just the marketing text that has been changed or whether functionality really has changed between the CF7 Standard vs CF7 Enterprise and the CF8 Standard vs CF8 Enterprise.

I mean by this that it seemed that CF8 Standard is meant for only one website and that it isn't possible to have multiple websites hosted anymore with that edition. Is that true?

I am running Coldfusion 7 MX Standard for the past two years and have had several websites/applications running in that (weblogs, company websites, other custom build applications). Had the feeling they were saying in the texts now that I should have Enterprise will I be able to run more than one application/website...
So I wonder now if I can still upgrade to CF8 Std or whether I have to think about buying a Enterprise edition instead.

Anyone who can help me out with this comparison? (and I know there is functionality difference, but I am not talking about that specifically).

Thanks in advance for your reply.

    Yes it is marketing speak.

What the are *trying* to sell you, is that Enterprise (of any MX
version) can have multiple _ColdFusion_ web applications running. In
other words, you can configure multiple instance of the ColdFusion
server to be running on the same box. Each with it's one configuration
and settings. This allows for nice application isolation and|or server
    clustering effects.

The Standard edition can only ever have one instance of ColdFusion (of a
    given version) on a box.

As always any or all of these ColdFusion instances, no matter it be one
or ten, can be connected to as many web sites as you care to connect
    them to. In Adobe-ColdFusion speak, a web-site != application.

Thanks you both for the great answers.

So now I know also what the idea of the instancing of Enterprise Server is.
Yes back in the years when I had my own hosting company I could have used the Enterprise Edition, but now I will have it for my own projects (websites). So the standard edition will be perfect, and the good thing is that I can also just upgrade my old server this way, saving a few dollars again.

Thanks tclaremont and Ian Skinner for your quick and clear reply.

You can most definately host multiple websites with CF8 standard.
