DW 8.0.2 + CF8 + Saving CSS file = Error

I have recently installed CF8 and it's running alongside of CF7. Running Dreamweaver 8.0.2 which I believe is the latest patch.

This scenario has happened several times today...

I have a CSS file open along with a couple other files. The CSS file is stored in c:\coldfusion8\wwwroot\siteFolder\cssFolder\file.css. I am running CF8 locally in Developer mode. I have my web root shared so that a backup server can access the files each evening, however, I deleted that share when troubleshooting this problem and it didn't help.

Ok... with the CSS file open I hit CTRL + S. An error appeared from Dreamweaver saying approximately...
"A sharing violation has occurred with c:\coldfusion8\wwwroot\siteFolder\cssFolder\file.css"

At that point, I can save the file under a new name. After doing so, I can not delete the 'old' filename because I get a similar/same sharing violation error.

Here are the things I tried....
Closing all browsers (primarily using FF2.0.6)
Closing/restarting Dreamweaver
Reboot

The only thing that helped was a reboot. After the reboot, I was able to edit/test my CSS file for awhile but the error eventually came back. So... I decided to try restarting the CF8 Application Server service from my MMC. Restarting the service temporarily fixes the problem. I'm able to save my CSS again. Unfortunately, the error keeps coming back and I have to restart CF8 periodically.

Anybody got any advice?

I have the exact some problem "Sharing violation.... CSS" when trying to save a CSS doc after previewing the cfm file in the browser, making a change to the CSS doc and trying to save it. I have noticed that after I sit and wait about a minute or so, I can then save it - not very productive though! This ONLY happens when I work with Coldfusion and does NOT happen when I do the same (preview in browser, make CSS change and Save) with PHP.

This constantly happened in DW8 and now also DW-CS3. It's extemely frustrating.

I'm the same way. Where can one go to report a bug to Adobe???? Is this forum just for their customers to support their product? *eyeroll*

I have Turned off "Save class File". By itself this did not help. I still get the error everytime I preview a CF site in FF or IE.

I can save the CSS file, if I select "Clear Template Cache Now" and then I select "Submit Changes".

At least I can get some work done.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

I'm at my wits end with CF8. I uninstalled and reinstalled CF8 without any luck. Surely there is a way to prevent caching with CF8. When installing it in Developer mode... there should be a way to toggle caching on/off.

I'm having problems saving out of Illustrator as well. I get a sharing error.

Where does one go to get help from Adobe?

Process Explorer told me it was jrun.exe which is obviously CF. If I kill jrun.exe, I'm able to save my CSS and continue working. That works until I view another .cfm file in my browser.

Download process explorer and find out what has a lock on the file. It is probably the browser and nothing to do with Coldfusion or Dreamweaver.

I *think* I may have found it!!

Within CF Admin... SERVER SETTINGS>CACHING there is a checkbox with a description of:

    "Save class files:
When you select this option, the class files generated by ColdFusion are saved to disk for reuse after the server restarts. Adobe recommends this for production systems. During development, Adobe recommends that you do not select this option. "

I disabled it and tested in DW. No error yet!!

I have been experiencing this problem too with ColdFusion 8 and Dreamweaver 8. Following the suggestion below and also clicking on the 'Clear Template Cache Now' button, every time I see the sharing violation error, it allows me to save the file again.

I am sharing this with you guys, since it has been really frustrating for me having to restart ColdFusion every time this problem occurred. At least by checking off the 'Save class files' option and clicking on the 'Clear Template Cache Now' button, every time I need it, I can avoid having to restart the service.

I hope Adobe can fix this problem, because I love ColdFusion 8, but this problem is really annoying and unproductive.

    Good Luck,
    Nelson

I've tried everyone's suggestions (save all, close .cfm) but nothing fixes it. In my case, it sure seems like it's tied to CF8. I can't find any other work around other than restarting the CF8 App Server. I've ditched Dreamweaver and started using CFEclipse. So much for buying DW CS3 if the problem persists on that version as well.
