Hey ya. I'm trying to lunch my website and it's still in design stage, so i would like to make myself the way a bit more clear. I'm going to use coldfusion, dreamweaver and mysql combination. So the question is do I need first of all to buy myself a server space and then enter all the information to coldfusion at the very beginning, or can I first of all create my site with localhost setup and then enter all the original server information? hopefully question doesn't sound that stupid.

Correct answer
You can make the site off line using localhost, then upload it to your ISP when it's ready.

If you are new to ColdFusion, then my recommendation would be to buy a copy of the Web Application Construction Kit (volumes 1 and 2) for CF8, setup your development environment on your local machine, read the books to learn the basics, build your site, then find a host that meets your requirements. CrystalTech and HostMySite are very popular and affordable.

thank you very much Walker. I think you partialy answered my question. The thing is that I have already studied a lot, and finished few tutorials on both, dreamweaver and coldfusion, so kind of have idea how it works together, just don't know if I need to find a host and enter details of server at the beginning of my site creation, or I can actually make a site with localhost option, and then afterward enter server details for seting it up.

I think the first thing you should do is to shop around for a host. Ask them what versions of CF and mySQL they are running and what tags they disallow. Once you make your choice, make sure your site complies with their rules, otherwise it won't work.
