Inplace upgrade of ColdFusion 2021 Update 17 to CF 2025

Hello all,
I have been looking to see if there is an answer to this or a "How To" but haven't found one.

We have CF 2021 Update 17 web server up and running.
We want to move to 2025

Is there a way to do an inplace upgrade?

On my test box when I run the 2025 install, it doesn't take notice of CF 2021 being installed and running so it just tries to install another instance of CF.
So is it possible to upgrade or "migrate" during install?

Well, I think the news is better than it may seem. First, no, there is no in-place upgrade, such that an old version of cf becomes a new one. There never has been.

But note that after you install the new version, then on the first launch of the cf admin, that's when it detects the previous version and offers the option to migrate in its admin settings.

There's more to discuss, like the migration log that creates, how it's wise to restart cf after that import (in case some troublesome setti, and more. I discuss those in talks I have in installing cf, migrating admin settings, etc. available at carehart.org/presentations, or scattered in various cf docs.

Let us know if this info above helps.

Ok, very good to know! I didn't complete the install since I wasn't sure if I had missed something.
I will go through the install and then log into the Admin panel and see what that does for me.

So I am guessing the "migration" is that it will read where all the directories are, the DB connections, etc.....from 2021 and move them into 2025. So aside from code changes, most things "should work" as they were under 2021?
    Thank you.
