Installing Coldfusion

Hi all,

The strangest thing has happened to me. One day, about 10 days ago, I noticed my CF Server (localhost Developer Edition) on Windows XP was crashing. I could not get it to even start after the crash. So I decided to uninstall and then reinstall. Well, I am unable to reinstall now.

First, with InstallAnywhere it would extract and then just disappear. So I extracted the files myself with WinRar and ran the install from there. I get the following log file created when I do that.

As another point of reference, the following log file says fontmanager.dll. My fonts have been acting funny on my machine for a while now too. Meaning that some fonts just disappeared from the machine.

I recently upgraded my video card as well to another, because the previous one was causing Windows to crash. It was going bad I guess.

Anyway, I really need to fix this problem. I depend on the autogeneration features of Dreamweaver and Flex to speed along my development.

Log file text attached.

You might also want to have your IT check out the hardware on the box.

Here is a link that describes how to manually uninstall a ColdFusion MX Server Configuration: http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_19187
You could try manually unistalling it and then see if the installation works.

Given all the other issues you mention, if you still can't get ColdFusion to install, you might want to consider backing up your application files and rebuilding your development box from scratch. This sounds like the root problem is something beyond ColdFusion....
