Integers in coldfusion collections

I have indexed a collection with custom fields, one of which is for price, however though I have tried changing the schema.xml in the conf folder to an integer it resolutely remains in text format thus th results can not be order by price as it returns 101 and less than 11!

Any help would be most welcome!
