Is it safe to delete Coldfusion hotfix update backups?

An older version of log4j file in ..\cfusion\hf-updates\hf-2018-00003-314033\backup\ was flagged as a security risk in a recent Tenable report. Is it safe to delete the backup files? Will it break the Coldfusion update history, or cause any issues with the future updates?

Hi @Igor223670189ql7

That's a good question and often asked by the users. You can delete the backup folder from the CF directory however, in case you have to roll back the update due to unforeseen reasons, then it will not allow you to do that.

You can keep a backup in another machine in a zip format or whatever way you want and in case you need to roll back, you can copy the required directory.

To answer your query regarding, if it breaks the CF install. Answer is it will not break anything in CF. So you can good to delete/keep it in other place.

Hope this helps.
