First - what is JRun4? What do I need it for?
The problem is that when I try to run the instalation, pops up a windows that tells me: "Unable to locate the application's "main" class. The class "test.class" must be public and have a "public statio void main(String0)" method. (LAX)" And then there's a list of Java applications.

What to do?

Thanks, Dibron

Please more help here: I have Dreamweaver 8 installed (I also have Dreamweaver MX 2004, but uninstalled it after bought the latest). I have done a few experimants with another web application prog like said before, so all these experimants were done using Inetpub as a local server. When I'm trying to follow the tutorials, I'm having problems locating the files and folders in Dreamweaver 8: They don't seem to be where they "should" be according to the tutorials... I've been experimenting moving folders in order to get anything going with the local server/s, and sometimes seem to get something going, but then get stuck in the next step... So questions:

1. If I already used IIS as the server, and my previous works are located in it, does it mean that ALL my works from now on should be done there? Is it preferable to use IIS if it's already in use? I understand the 2 servers cannot work together in parallel, right?

2. How do I make order in the folders to match the tutorial? Like: Right now I cannot find the Snippets for instance, and other things. Should I reinstall DW MX 2004? Sounds like going backwards...

How to get going?

Should I uninstall everything and only install CF, without JRun (if
possible, don't know yet...)? Can I move the tutorial files from their
location in the C:Inetpub/wwwroot folder, where they were installed, to
the C:CF/wwwroot? I'm vety puzzled, and would very much appreciate a
guidance here.

Maybe and most likely.

You do not need to be messing around with JRun, yes ColdFusion runs on
it by default, but for beginners they can usually ignore that.

If you un-installed everything and just installed CF in it's basic
"standard" format it will install and configure JRun as it needs it and
you should not have to worry about it until you get into advanced
performance tuning. If you plan on using IIS make sure it is installed
and running first and the CF installer will detect it and configure
itself to use it as well. Otherwise you can let it run on it's built in
web server which is fine for development and learning but not
recommended for production. Or you can configure it to use IIS after
the install, but more learning there.

As to the second question, yes you should be able to move any code files
to your current webroot and they should run there just as long as you
have a functioning CF installation.

I am new to CF. Tried another database prog but was advised to use CF. I installed all what was on the CD and tried to follow the tutorial instructions, but came upon the problems with the JRun, as well as with the CF. Files don't appear in the same folders they should be according to the tutorial! Very confusing. So now I don't know how to go about it. Should I uninstall everything and only install CF, without JRun (if possible, don't know yet...)? Can I move the tutorial files from their location in the C:Inetpub/wwwroot folder, where they were installed, to the C:CF/wwwroot? I'm vety puzzled, and would very much appreciate a guidance here.

Hi I'm a beginner to jrun4 also I bought drew's book on jrun web application construction kit. I have xp pro and use iis which is bundled with the os. make shure to add it, that is iis first, you goto control panel then add windows components. It also needs suns jre and sdk which are free at the java site. then just check control panel again go to administrator icon make shure iis application is in and then go to the java application is in your c directory. if you search your java application subfolders youll see the where the jre is. then install it don't worry its not like a simple application I must have rebooted my system 10 times before I figured out how to install it without errors. now I just have to figure out how to use it with coldfusion. which was a nightmare to install if you have jrun.

JRun is an application server that is used to run ColdFusion or any other java applications. What is the pruprose you are installing JRun?
What operating system are you using?

By the way, JRun has its own forum where you have better chance to be helped by JRun Community. This particular one is for ColdFusion (even though majority of people use ColdFusion on top of JRun).
