Question
Migration from CF6.1 to CF8
We are in the process of migrating from CF6.1 to CF8.
We are running in a Redhat linux environment.
I created a car file in CF6.1 and then on the new server
deployed the file.
The message at the end of the deployment indicated it was
successful, although there were a number of error messages
that appeared during the deployment that I have not
analyzed yet.
However, reading closely in the documentation I see the following
ColdFusion 8 does not unpack archives created in previous versions of ColdFusion.
When you migrate from a previous version of ColdFusion to ColdFusion 8 and then create a
CAR file, if you customized the log directory setting, it is not included in the archive.
Now surely this must be some type of typo, or it is not exactly describing the situation.
I would find it difficult to believe that Adobe would not provide a seamless migration
to upgrades in the software.
I certainly do not want to enter the hundreds or thousands of lines of information
by hand as we upgrade to CF8.
Could someone please clarify?
