Passing Names

I have a main menu that contains a list of names. I have a form/link after each name so that when I click on the name, a form comes up. Instead of having one form for each name, I just one to have one universal form and write the selected name to the form. The name will be my keyed/index so that I can review all forms filled out for each name. How can I pass each selected name to the form ?

Your code generated an extra double-qoute (unfortunately) just in front of the name. It terminated the URL so you passed forward a variable that was set to an empty string.

The simplest answer is with a URL variable as part of your "link" from the menu

    yourformpage.cfm?name=placenamehere

Then access it in the form's field value property as URL.name

I agree with the suggestion here but be careful if you will take that URL variable and insert into a database. Someone could put -anything- as the variable, including malicious SQL code. Validate the input before you use it in any SQL routine.
