PDF's generated with Coldfusion 8

Does anyone know what Adobe Reader version is the minimum for viewing PDF's generated using the <cfdocument> tag? I know the PDF will open with reader 9 and up. I was testing my application with an old windows 2k machine with Adobe Reader 5.0 installed, and when I opened the PDF...it was all messed up. I installed the newest version of Reader and it works fine now. I am working on my "minimum requirements" document, so if anyone knows I would greatly appreciate the help.

This is an application used by the general public, so I don't really know what version of Reader they will be using. Here is a screen shot of what happens with Reader 5

I would just hate to say that the minimum requirements are Reader 9 and some company upgrade 100 computers when reader 8 would have worked fine. Or worse yet, stop using my software all together because they won't upgrade. I guess I can install old versions of reader (if I can find them) and see for myself.

If you choose the last option, this link might help.

    tag?

When I check a document created by CF9 in Adobe Reader, the version information is: PDF Version: 1.4 (Acrobat 5.x). I believe that is the default for CF8 as well.

I am not sure why you are having problems with Acrobat 5. Having said that, how many of your users are still using Acrobat 5? You might want to pick a slightly more recent version as your minimum, rather than supporting a small base still using really old versions.

I haven't found any mention of a minimum version required, but if you're running CF8, you should be sure you're up-to-date on the cumulative hot fixes, since there are numerous bug fixes for cfdocument.
