Problem with Administrator

Hi all,
I am VERY new to ColdFusion and am feeling my way around. I have coldfusion MX installed on my laptop (running Windows XP) and so far have been able to run some basic .cfm pages but when I get to start learning about databases I am stumped.

From what I have read I need to identify/setup my database using the Administrator panel. However when I try and launch it, I get the general error message:

****Please Try The Following:

Check the CFML Reference Manual to verify that you are using the correct syntax.

Search the Knowledge Base to find a solution to your problem.****

I've looked at the file (CFIDE/administrator/index.cfm) in dreamweaver and it appears to be corrupt. Is there a quick fix for this? Can I download the required files or do I need to do a complete uninstall and reinstall of coldfusion?

I've been looking around the forums for some help and I'm guessing that someone is going to ask me IIS or Apache...and the thing is - i'm soooo new that I don't really know how to tell!! (embarassing to admit but true :))

Can anyone give me a pointer in the right direction? (and please don't say "give up now" :)

Cheers.

Hi there,

It's not corrupted its encrypted :)

are you sure that you have the right URL to the administrator? when you access your other basic pages do you have the port 8500 after the localhost? If not then you are running the Coldfusion install on all IIS sites and should be able to access the administrator at
http://localhost/cfide/administrator/index.cfm

Hi Gary,
Thaks for that distinction - nice to know! :)
I was actually using http://localhost:8500/cfide/administrator/index.cfm for my other pages and they seemed to work.

Anyway not to worry, I reinstalled CFMX7 and all is going well....so far.....

I do have another question but it has a different topic so I'll start a new thread.
But thanks again for stopping by to help out.
Cheers,
Eaine.
