problem with cfajaxproxy

I'm having trouble with cfajaxproxy. I've copied demos and they work as far as displaying the correct cfc invocation response in the ajax debugger.
But - I can't seem to get setCallbackHandler to work. The data never comes back. My callbackhandler never gets called.
Please help.
