Question About ColdFusion Certification

Hello there!

I have been studying for some time now for ColdFusion MX 7 Developer Certification exam. Since CF 8 is out for some time, I am not sure whether I should wait for CF 8 certification exam to come out or not.

Then I came across ACE ColdFusion 8 exam 9A0-066. I have no interest in any other Adobe Certifications.

Does Adobe has any plans to come out with ColdFusion MX 8 Developer Certification exam?

Can you guide me as whether I should take ColdFusion MX 7 Developer Certification exam or ColdFusion 8 exam 9A0-066?

I didn’t find any information as how long ColdFusion MX 7 Developer Certification is valid after one passes the exam? Do you know anything about its validity period.

Sincerely,

Joe

Joe,

You should go for CF8. I have CF7 certification (earned in March or April 2007) but need to update it this year for CF8.

Technically, once you're certified you are always certified, however, certification is based on versions. So, in my case, I am a certified CFMX 7 developer NOT a certified CF8 developer. Typically, new certifications and exams are released 60-120 days after a product is released.

In general, there's not much reason to pay $150 (or whatever it is now) for CF7 certification when CF8 has been out for a year and is doing incredibly well. I attended/am attending the CFManiacs and FlexManiacs conferences this week and, essentially, everyone is on CF8.

To me, it's better to be as current as possible with your certifications. Which means I need to get off my own a$$ and study for CF8 :)!
