Is COLDFUSION MX SERVER PRO MULTI something that requires a server platform (Windows Server 2003 or 2008), or can this item work on XP?

What are you looking at that describes something as "COLDFUSION MX SERVER PRO MULTI" ?

To answer what your question might be, yes you can install CF (standard or enterprise, stand-alone or multi-server) on a desktop OS just fine.

Thank you very much for your time.

I am looking to temporarily host a few sites on my home computer, but I am planning to get a real server in a year or two.  I am researching ColdFusion versions to use on my home computer for this year or two interum.  I downloaded CF8 Trial, and it evidently requires server software, because it doesn't work on XP - more specifically, it wouldn't install.

Any clue as to how I may get CF MX 7 or CF 8 to work on XP?  I never got to even TRY CF8, because my 30 days ran out.

Of course, the cable company would probably need to know I'm doing this, and I may need to change my home cable account to a commercial one, but that's a different chapter.

Sincerely,

Doug

I've never used the "trial" version, I always just use the developer edition @ home.  And if you're just messing around initially, it'll be fine.

What version of XP are you running?  I've had no prob running CF8 on XP in the past.  What problem did you encounter with the install?
