Question

The metrics service is disabled for the J2EE edition (CF 8.1)

Our agency just spend a boatload of money upgrading to CF8 Enterprise (on multiple servers), and I cannot seem to get the Server Monitor application working. I put in the server username/password, the paths and ports are all correct, I have Flash 9, but I keep getting "ColdFusion Server is not available". This is for the single server monitor right now. Oh, and I have the 8.1 update.

Worse, when I look at my log I see "The metrics service is disabled for the J2EE edition", and I think I have read on other blogs that Server Monitor does not work on the multi-server version? Is that true?? I hope not, because I can't even get ColdFusion 8 working in the Windows Server performance monitor, so I have no way of monitoring anything CF related right now. For being "enterprise" software I am surprised this monitoring feature is not working.

Help?

The metrics service is disabled for the J2EE edition is a safe warning to ignore and is unrelated to the server monitor.

Where are you trying to launch the monitor from? The server running CF or a workstation somewhere else on the network? There is a cross domain issue that you've got to fix if you're doing it from a workstation.

This is a good write up on the Monitor:
