I have a standalone webserver runing coldfusion 7 and need to upgrade to version 10. The server is windows 2003 and the coldfusion database is runnig on MS SQL 2000. I've read Josh's Blog on upgrading from version 7 to 8 or 9 but havn't found much info when going from 7 to 10.

I purchased Coldfusion 10, would it be possible to get a version 9 license key and media? The application that uses Coldfusion is currently running on Coldfusion 7, the latest upgrade for the application requires 8 or higher. Sounds like I may be better off going to Coldfusion 9 instead of 10.

Hi All,

CF 10 has come up with many changes: starting from Jrun--> Tomcat, more functionalities added etc.

You can look-up to the comparision chart as follows:

Yes! we provide a migration facilty for moving from CF8 to CF10 /CF9 to CF10.

If you have any of these versions, then you can easily migrate your older version {8/9} settings to CF10.

If you have purchased CF10 and wish to use CF9 application at the current stage, then, you can downgrade your current CF 10 license to CF9. If so! please approach Adobe Customer Service support at: 800 833 6687.

be wary and get ready for problems. we went from CF8 to CF10. We experience session problems (CFID and CFTokens changing) and the CF services not being stable. remotely logging into the server and then logging out seems to break the CF Application Server service running on our server and we restart of this service is needed... otherwise a 503 Temporarily unavailable message shows until the service restart.

Also Adobe screwed things up with the CFAdmin. 1 user at a time can only login (tough with teams) and it boots you out alot. you cannot kill a running thread (the x button is missing on the server monitor next to running thread). Forget using the CFadmin or HTML5 charting with Google Chrome too. The pie chart data tips in chrome when you mouse-over them do not display right and the CFadmin has all sorts of error from Chrome. I wish the CF team checked cross-browser compatibility on these things. Also with IE8 i go to add my ip to the list of debugging addresses and it crashes with an error... I need to use Firefox to do this.

Can anyone recommend a consultant that can provide installation assistance with the upgrade from version 7 to 10?
