Webservice debugging

I'm having trouble writing my first webservices. The error messages that come back are very cryptic and sometimes make absolutely no sense. And in no case do they refer to line numbers. Is there a way to call a service whereby you get the regular CF error messages?

In addition, does anyone know what this means (below)? The return is set to be a struct and I'm building and returning a structure...

    The latest issue is that now, for some reason, if there's an error I get back nothing. A white screen with 0 output. No HTML at all.

    I can't find which log to look at either. Where are my failed attempts being logged to? IIS's logs? CF's application.log?

    Very frustrating.
