What happened to CF?

I use Flash remoting and I've been using it for years. Yesterday I was working on a project and everything worked fine. Today the administrator panel in CF won't connect to my databases. The service for mysql is started and I can open it through the command line client and see the databases fine. I didn't touch anything, why isn't it working today? What would make it do that?

Well I tried everything. The only thing that changed were two windows updates. Uninstalling those didn't fix it. So I installed the update for Coldfusion. Now the service won't start. And Coldfusion won't uninstall. Customer Service won't help unless you pay them $250. I'M SCREWED!!!

Something changed. New firewall rules, sql server down, network cable
cut, PEBKAC, any number of reasons. We need more info about your
    problem, so:

    0. more details about OS, CF and MySQL versions.
    1. what changed ?
    2. do you get any errors ? Check the CF log files, check the MySQL log
    files.
