I'm looking to upgrade my old Dell monitor that apparently was never suited for photo editing.

Can someone recommend the best/ideal monitors for professional photo editing?

    I also vote Eizo Coloredge

Some models in the Coloredge display range include a colorimeter and self calibration / profiling software

    Graphic Arts industry 'standard kit'.

    I hope this helps

This isn't helpful. This doesn't answer my question. No two monitors will never emit the exact same colors but we can use a monitor calibrator to get as close to true colors as possible. But there is still a difference between editing on a qhd vs a 4k monitor and other specs.

Exactly, not only do two displays emit the same colors, you first have to calibrate them to the desired condition AND create a profile to describe that condition. So get a product that will do this for your old Dell.

Do you want a new system? Do you want the best that can be provided? Get an Eizo or NEC SpectraView if you want a suggestion on the BEST displays for doing this task of calibrating and profiling any number of targets.
