Question

Photoshop won't start, invalid ICC Profile

I've seen this problem posted here before, but I've tried the suggested solutions of deleting Photoshop and redownloading it, and installing the sRGB IEC61966.2.1 colour space and setting it as default for my monitor, but no luck. I keep getting the "Could not initalize Photoshop because the ICC profile is invalid" error.

I'm using a Surface Laptop 3. I can't get a monitor calibrator as I can't seem to find any locally at a reasonable price from a reputable reseller, and I can't wait around for international shipping because I need Photoshop for uni work. Any ideas?

And you're sure the system monitor profile is the "sRGB IEC61966-2.1" profile specifically, not some other profile with sRGB in the name?

You set it here. Relaunch PS when done, it loads the profile at application startup:

Yup, I've done exactly that, and Photoshop still would not open, even after a reboot and reinstall.

I suggest you try resetting Photoshop's preferences

it fixes a lot of issues, lets hope it helps

If you want to rule out pretty much the only issue we ever see with Photoshop, you can reset preferences, I never read of a preferences issue causing this problem though:

To reset the preferences in Photoshop:

    https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html

Note: Make sure that you back up all your custom presets, brushes & actions before restoring Photoshop's preferences. Migrate presets, actions, and settings
