Problems changing text colour in photoshop 2021

Hi all,

I have been getting along fine editing text and changing colours on psd docs. But for some reason I can't anymore. I cant change the text colour by selecting text and changing the colour. And I can't do it by using a colour overlay.

Has anyone had any similar issues? Or any advise on how to fix this?

I have found out why. There was 2 colour overlays on my text, I hadnt realised. It was over the whole folder I had created.
