Question

Windows Photos now seems to be color managed

This test image in sRGB, Adobe RGB and ProPhoto now displays identically, and with correct colors, on my wide gamut monitor.

Windows 10, Photos version is 2021.21090.10008.0.

This is good news, the bad news is of course that Windows 11 has broken color management.

Indeed it is! Excellent. Thanks for posting this - I've given up on Photos long ago and would never know.

The Windows 11 problem seems a bit worrying though, and I'm still waiting for it to explode. But by some statistical fluke, early adopters seem to be less concerned with color management, so the floodgates haven't yet opened.

But this shows Microsoft haven't fired their color management team. And truth be told, we had a similar show-stopping issue with early releases of Windows 10. That time it wasn't color, but really bad banding on 10 bit displays. I was worried then that we were such a marginal group that they wouldn't prioritize it - but they did. It was fixed pretty quickly. Let's hope the same here.

D.Fosse, Yeah, agree, it has to be down to Microsoft if they've removed the SDK calls for the display profile that Adobe rely upon and, it seems, always have.

I guess Adobe COULD fix it but some the change was not made by them, should they be responsible for the extra work?
