Question

Adobe Buys InterAKT

I was just wondering if Adobe will ever put on their website, some sort of a press conference transcript about acquiring InterAKT, a company most of us have come to love and enjoy their product extensions. I would like to know if Adobe just bought InterAKT to get rid of the "competition" in the light of the fact that they have similar plans for future Dreamweaver and other products. For some of us, this acquisition is a big deal and would like to see something on your website about it. We would like to know what the future holds for some of us who have come to love InterAKT products.

I feel as if the guys at Adobe dont really care and treating this acquisition as crap....I think InterAKT deserves the same kind of attention as Macromedia did when they were acquired by Adobe. It is not fair and no one obviously cared about InterAKT customers. Wrong, wrong, wrong!!! Greed!!! Shameful!!!

Sorry, but that is how and a bunch of other InterAKT clients feel!

Nancy, I need the RSS extension that InterAKT offered....specifically, I =
am trying to learn how to generate a RSS feed from sections of a webpage =
that visitors can subscribe to. I need some sort of a no-fail, idiot-proof =
front end that my client can just type in and then that would update that =
section of the page and the RSS feed would be pushed out to subscribers.=20=

Can you point me in the right direction for how to do this? We are using =
DW8 and ASP (ASP.net is also an option). Is there an extension or =
commercial package that offers this?=20

Thank you!=20

Their website only offers Kollection for sale. Impakt is among the list of
discontinued products, so even if you could get your hands on a copy,
support would only exist for 5 months (and that's for registered copies).
Sorry.

What is it that you are trying to do? There are a ton of extensions out
there .. what do you need in particular?

Hey, i've been asked to build a forum which is intgrated into a website i've got to make for a mate.
I haven't really done anything like that before and and not a PHP programmer.
the only tutorial i found for creating a Forum using Dreamweaver (this i have) was on the Macromedia site and used teh ImpAKT extension.
That's about it really, it used it for the login out, image resizing, all the database integration and security etc.
seemed pretty much spot on.

Hi Guys,
I seem to have jumped on this a bit late.
But i only discovered ImpAKT yesterday and now really need it for a project i'm beginning - it's perfect.
Is there anywhere to buy it still without forking out for the whole Kollection? Everywhere i've tried seems to have been stomped on my Adobe.

I'm in trouble. I got Interakt MX Calendar trial a few days ago, and I
was going too install it now and very likely buy it soon. I went to
Interakt site and saw that thanks to Adobe MX calendar was gone forever
without warning.

Question: if I make an application (calendar) with the trial version,
will this calendar still work when the trial version itself stops working??

Yes the application will still function normally. You will just not be able
to make changes to it in DW. But any o ther work completed will work as expected.

Hi yea,
I have been using interakt for a few years and have the greatest respect for
the people there, they will not let you just fall to the road side when it
comes to using one of there extensions, they have a support network, I can
not see them or adobe let that fail.

Exactly the same problem for me.

It's disrespect from Adobe.

They could have kept the product "as it is" for one month or so, saying it
would be discontinued, but we could have bought it, or (impossible with
Adobe's mentality) they could have given the code away as GNU-GPL.

And many Interakt products have been canceled the same way, without any
prior warning to the customers, while Adobe cleans the market around.

/mode bad mood on
Adobe has bought and borrowed a lot in its history... (Photoshop was
originally a software from a scanner maker, and about "something else"...
who said Xerox...)
/mode bad mood still on

I 100% agree and will go farther with the issue.

First I think it would be important to consider the user community during decision making. it would have been kind to at least give notification to interakt users of a final sale/last chance.

I alos understand that adobe doesnt want to sell items due to support reasons. However it is a complete awaste of resources to make items already developed not available. at least offer the items without support. we users seem to solve each others issues in teh forums anyways.

Personally i have a dilemma. I used mx calendar for a project under development. i used the trial copy until i got approval from the client. now - i went to purchase the item and its not available. Now i have wasted time and have to find another solution. although the pages are developed and complete i would have to hand code any changes in teh future.

I also agree with the thought that adobe is just buying out competitors. This is truly a shame. I am appalled at the abruptness of this purchase and lack of consideration for the community of users.

I totally agree, I feel Interakt has contributed greatly to Dreamweaver,
even a small mention on the front page of adobe would have been a sign of
respect. maybe adobe is too proud to consider.
